Trojans Dominate Hornets in Bowl Game

In a thrilling Elk Valley Conference bowl game at Lincoln County High School, the South Middle School Trojans showcased their prowess by securing a resounding 48-8 victory over the Highland Rim Hornets.


Game Highlights

  • The Trojans took an early lead, scoring most of their points in the first half and maintaining control throughout the game.

  • Despite the Hornets managing to score a lone touchdown before halftime, the Trojans responded with five touchdowns of their own in the opening two quarters, establishing a commanding 34-8 lead at halftime.

  • In the second half, South added two more touchdowns while shutting out the Hornets, resulting in an impressive 40-point margin of victory.


Standout Performances

Kaveon Sutton stood out with an exceptional performance, amassing 95 rushing yards, 70 receiving yards, three rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown, and a two-point conversion during the match. Quarterback Bentley Baldwin contributed 230 passing yards and three touchdowns, with key receptions by Jack Price and Brennan Taylor.


Post-Season Honors

  • Sutton was named co-MVP of the EVC, while Evan Smith earned the Lineman of the Year award for his outstanding offensive and defensive performance.

  • Baldwin, Price, Smith, Sutton, and Taylor were selected for the all-conference team, with Murray and Reese receiving honorable mentions.

  • With this victory, the Trojans concluded their season with a remarkable 8-1 record.
