Joshua David Day went missing from Grundy County, TN, on July 24th, 2020. At the time of his disappearance, Josh was described as a 32-year-old Caucasian male, 5' 9" tall, 125 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Josh's Mom, Cindy Day, said that the day Josh went missing, he had canceled plans to go camping with his dad and told his parents he was going to meet up with some friends instead. “He said, ‘I know, Mom, I have this one thing I have to do, and I can’t get out of it.” Then he disappeared.
“I said, ‘Josh, your daddy is going to be so disappointed; he wanted you to go camping with him.’”
From an interview with Local News 3:
What did Josh have to do? Cindy does not know, and if anyone else knows, they have not said. This question haunts all of those who care about him.
On July 24th, 2020, Josh went 4-wheeler riding around Raven's Point with a friend named Patrick and Patrick's girlfriend. According to what Patrick has told others, they were being chased by an unknown person; after seeing the headlights, Josh went one way, and Patrick and his girlfriend went the other way. They ended up losing each other.
Late that night, Patrick called Josh's parents, concerned, asking if he could check the garage to see if Josh's 4-wheeler was there. Josh never came home that night, so his parents reported him missing the following morning.
A search quickly ensued with the help of several agencies, search and rescue K9s, cadaver K9s, volunteers, and aviation units. Josh's tan Honda Reckon was found about 50 yards off the Fiery Gizzard trail next to a small makeshift campfire. The Investigator was told that the 4-wheeler would not stay running after it was found.
The K9s tracked Josh's scent near a cabin, but Josh was not there.
Sheriff Schrum said that Patrick and his girlfriend took polygraph tests but would not elaborate on whether or not they may have had involvement.
Joshua Day's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information that helps them find Josh.
Cindy Day has told news outlets that she does not expect to find her son alive, but she does wish for him to be found.
