Edward Orval Manges age 80, of Tullahoma, Tenn., departed this life on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Manges was born in Midland, Michigan to the late Orval Elijah Manges and Ruth Stillwell Manges, they were both Pentecostal Preachers. He began playing music at the young age of 6. He signed his first recording contract in 1974, with State Fair Records in Nashville, Tenn., with the recording name of Eddie North and was well known by his fans with his stage name of Eddie North. During his musical career, he received an award for 50 years of dedication to country music. He worked many Jerry Lee Lewis Telethons throughout his career. He played the Ryman Auditorium in the 70's, was able to share the stage with many of his friends including, Charlie Louvin of (The Louvin Brothers), Marty Robbins, Peggy Sue (Loretta Lynn's Sister) Ernie Ashworth and also played Bass Guitar for Del Reeves, Little Roy Wiggins, The Frost Brothers and John Frost. He also enjoyed working as a Stage hand for The Johnny Cash Show. He had a talent of doing impressions and could impersonate anyone. One of his accomplishments was that he had read through the Bible in full three times. Most of all he will be remembered as a "Wonderful Dad".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Prater Manges, grandson, Eddie Wayne Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Manges of Tullahoma, Children: Peggy Sue (Johannes) Marais, Rick (Sharon) Manges, Sara Manges, Mary Ann (Glen) Wilson, Emmy (Tristan) Atwood, Cindy (Anthony) Campbell, Katie Van Beelen, Emmanuel Williams, Mitchell Williams, Debbi (Mark) Thomas. Sisters: Sharon Altman, Rebecca Stinson and Leandra Manges. 40 Grandchildren, 40+ Great-grandchildren, 1-Great-Great-Grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later time.
