Barbara Jane Ellis of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed from this life on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Vanderbilt Harton Hospital in Tullahoma, Tennessee at the age of 84 years. A native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Jack and Carldean Brown Welch. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Mark Ellis in 1982, two daughters, Darla Ellis in 2014 and Dana Ellis in 2016, brother, Max Ragan in 1983, and one grandchild, Samantha Abbott in 2010.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Tullahoma. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, and she worked in the Physical Therapy Department at Harton Hospital for 38 years before her retirement. Barbara was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She experienced a lot of losses in her life, but she never let that get her down. She kept moving forward and showered those she had left with love and compassion. She was a strong woman and will be missed every single day.
Her survivors include one daughter, Dwyne (Robert) Abbott of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, sister, Patricia Lawson of Enterprise, Alabama, grandchildren, Monie (Matthew) Pruitt, Macie (Jonathon) Honey, Cameron Greenway, Cale (Chelsea) Greenway and Ellis (Taylor) Abbott. Barbara is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Emma Kate, Asher, Winston, Grayson, Emeree, Beckham, Xavier, Nora and Jakobi.
