James E. "Jimmy" Gass Obituary

April 28, 1949  -  December 12, 2024


James E. “Jimmy” Gass, age 75 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Elk River Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Franklin County, he was born on April 28, 1949, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Millie Ann (King) Gass. Before his retirement, he had been employed for over forty years in the Dietary Department at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. Jimmy cherished the friendships made with his work family and stayed in contact with them up until the time of his death. He enjoyed playing board games, as well as Bingo and Rook. But most of all, he loved the time spent with his beloved family, especially his nieces and nephews. His loving personality and happy nature will be missed by all who knew him. Jimmy attended Oaklawn Baptist Church and Cowan First Church of the Nazarene when he was able. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ettness Marie Barnes and Harvey Dale Cook. Jimmy is survived by his loving siblings, William (JoHanna) Cook, Lillian Johnson, Brenda (John) Weaver, and Patsy (James) Payne; sister-in-law, Shirley Cook; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Timmy, Melody, Tina, Bobby, Andy, Pam, Sandra, Johnny, Jason, Michelle, John, and Amber; and many loving friends. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 12 noon in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Ray Gardner and Bro.
