Gov. Lee Opens Investigation into FEMA's Help During Helene

Gov. Bill Lee has announced an investigation into potential discrimination against Tennesseans by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The inquiry was prompted after FEMA acknowledged the dismissal of an employee who allegedly instructed workers assisting Hurricane Milton survivors in Florida to avoid homes displaying signs in support of Donald Trump.

Lee said that he is working with Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti after Helene caused widespread destruction in East Tennessee in September. According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, 17 Tennesseans people were killed in the flooding.
