Motorists can expect slightly lower U.S. gas prices in 2025 despite rising prices as inflation eases and amid booming domestic oil production.
AAA data shows that after accelerating for much of the first half of the year, pump prices dipped in the second half of 2024. According to tracking service GasBuddy, nationwide, a gallon of regular gas now averages $2.98, down nearly 12 cents from a year ago.
Tennessee's average gas price per gallon rose to $2.88 on Wednesday afternoon, while the average in Alabama was $3.07.
