In the recent election in Franklin County, Donald Trump secured a significant victory over Kamala Harris. Additionally, Franklin County Sgt. (PIO) Sam Davidson emerged as the winner of the contested County Commission seat.
County Commission Race
Davidson competed for the District 7 Seat A County Commission position against Alan Clark and Chris Hawkersmith. After the ballots were counted, Davidson received 955 votes, narrowly defeating Hawkersmith, who garnered 859 votes, and Clark received 615. The District 7, Seat A position representing Tullahoma was recently vacated by David Eldridge.
Following a series of unexpected events, Eldridge found himself on Tuesday's ballot unopposed in District 1. He garnered an impressive 1,947 votes, effectively clinching the position.
The events leading to this outcome began when Eldridge resigned in July after relocating from District 7 to District 1, where he would now represent Winchester constituents.
Upon his resignation, the commission appointed Eldridge as the temporary District 1, Seat A commissioner until the upcoming election day arrived.
During the commission's meeting on August 19, a unanimous decision was made to officially designate Eldridge to fill the vacant seat left by Monica Baxter Jeffers, who stepped down to assume the role of property assessor.
